| Kathleen McKenzie: Her Faith |
|
Faith and heritage go hand-in-hand in the McKenzie household. The McKenzie’s attend church regularly. They also have family devotions at home led by Kathleen's papa, James. These family devotions are special times for Kathleen because her papa has a way of helping her and her brother understand the Bible and apply God’s Word to situations in their lives. On the day of Kathleen's big race, for instance, her papa helped calm her anxieties by reading from Hebrews 12:
Papa encouraged Kathleen to put aside any fears, pride, or discouragement that might get in the way of her running a good race. No matter what problems come Kathleen’s way, she knows that she can always count on her parents' guidance, wisdom, and prayers for support. Kathleen knows that she can always count on the Lord too, and she is diligent to lean on His Holy Word in times of need.
The family celebrates their Scottish heritage by playing the bagpipe, wearing their clan’s tartan, and participating in the local Highland Games. While Kathleen’s parents work hard to pass down their Scottish heritage to her and her brother, Richard, they work even harder to pass on a heritage of Christian faith.
